Born in Argentina of a strong Italian family, Eduardo Fabian Gramisici, AKA “Fast Eddie”, grew up in the shadow of all kinds of vehicles.  His father, a transmission expert from Calabria, ran a successful garage in Buenos Aires where Eddie was exposed to all aspects of the automobiles.  Since the age of eight, his father got Eddie underneath cars so his son would understand what made a car work, teaching him the ins and outs of his trade.  Young Eddie even worked in the shop, cleaning spark plugs for his allowance.

Starting in 1979, Eddie became absorbed in the world of Formula 1 racing.  He was instantly attracted to the sound, the speed and the shape of the cars as they blew around the Autodromo Juan Manuel Fangio practically in his own backyard.  From that first moment, Eddie realized his dream: auto racing.

At 16, Eddie started racing 4 cylinder Fiats and Renault, both rear and front wheel drive.  He quickly graduated to 6 cylinder Peugeots, Renault Turbos and Fords.  From his first lap on the track, Eddie displayed an extreme driving style, capturing all attentions from fellow drivers and spectators alike.  It was very obvious from everyone around him that Eddie was a force to be reckoned with and feared when the competition turned stiff.

After years of working and filling out papers, Eddie was finally able to immigrate to the United States in 1996, the home of NASCAR and American Muscle Cars.  (His first car purchased here was a ‘76 Camaro!)  Even though he spent many years working hard for the American dream, he never let go of his desire to race and continued to plan for his future in the sport.  Eddie’s work ethic and desire for a better life lead him to buy the business he first worked for in the States and soon gave him the free time needed to pursue all aspects of automobile collecting and, of course, racing.

In the early 1990’s, Eddie’s curiosity for super bikes got the better of him and he bought his first motorcycle, a 1981 Honda 900 Bold’ Or.  In no time, he went from simply riding to racing, burning up the quarter mile and then the road course with a Kawasaki 750 ZXR.  With his seamless transition from cars to bikes, it was obvious to everyone that Eddie was a natural, a pure and simple racer whose passion and skill would continue to take him in the direction of his dreams.

Eddie’s first super car was a perfect, one-owner, red Ferrari 355.  With that purchase, he joined the Ferrari Club of America, Southeastern Division, met many racing enthusiasts and opened up the new world of private track days as well as road courses through the beautiful North Carolina country side.  His next purchase was a Ferrari 360 Modena, a much different beast.  However, it was in a 550 Maranello that he took a drivers’ award at the very difficult South Course at Virginia International Raceway.  From this point, Eddie drove a wide variety of fast cars including a 2005 Competition Package BMW M3, a 2002 Corvette Z 06, and the fastest of all, a 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo.

It was at these track days, that not only his skill as a driver became very clear, but also his unique and approachable personality which made Eddie a desirable instructor.  He was hesitant at first, not willing to admit his own credibility.  However, after many of his friends and colleagues continued to ask, Eddie agreed to share his knowledge not only of the tracks but of the specific cars as well.

While participating in private track dates and car shows, Eddie was also honing his skill at the indoor go kart track.  Right from the start, he set the fastest times again and again and became the driver to beat.  In his first championship league, he finished second, only one point behind the winner, who later became his first driving student!  In the second league, Eddie aggressively took the title of Grand Champion, this time finishing ahead of his student.

With many track dates behind him, Eddie decided to take the next step and went onto the open-wheel racer, a race car drivers’ ultimate experience.  When he took a one week, road course class to get his SCCA Competition license, he dominated the field by capturing the pole and winning his first Formula 2000 race.  The following year, he signed on to race the entire 2007 Formula 2000 Race Season.  As a rookie, Eddie won 3 races, never scored lower than 5th position and finished 7th overall in the final points standings of the season even after missing two races.

This coming year Eddie will be racing in the 2008 Grand AM Koni Challenge, ST Class, driving a BMW 330i for Fountain Motorsports based out of New York.  Fountain Motorsports finished 5th overall in 2007 and they have proved to be a very competitive team.  He is currently being coached by Chuck Hawks.
